How do I replace or upgrade an integrated graphics card on my gateway notebook?
I have a gateway notebook with an "Integrated IntelĀ® Graphics Media Accelerator 950, 945GM Chipset". I'd like to upgrade to a "pci express" card. What do I need to get in order to upgrade?

- You can go to Geek Squad or a tech support agency and they can install it for you professionally. Other than that, you would have to be a really good sodderer and work well with computer chips and stuff
- Ummmm dude, I don't really know if you can upgrade a notebook, Laptops are hard to upgrade if not impossible, if it is possible I would call Gateway and ask them.
- You have to replace the motherboard. Integrated here means the graphics are driven by a chipset that is permanently fixed to the motherboard. You can't replace just the chipset. You replace the entire motherboard or better yet, replace the computer.
- Sadly you cannot remove or upgrade an integrated graphics car din a notebook. Notebooks lack the space to place a graphics card if it did not came with one. Integrated graphic cards are mtoherboard based and use RAM as video memory which will explain why you want to upgrade. To upgrade you would probably have to upgrade the motherboard which is not something usual for most notebook manufacturer (unless you are talking aboutt he few like alienware and Levono). The best you could do for performance is increase the amount of ram and upgrade the processor. Another problem is that notebook graphical cards are not a common item for the regular consumer. So you wont find them just around any computer part store.
- Integrated means that it is built into the motherboard. Not a good idea to mess with if you do not know what you are doing. If your computer has an extra express slot you could try that and have 2 video cards...
