Graphics Upgrade

Is it safe for me to remove my ATI radeon graphics card driver and then reinstall it ?

i have a sony vaio pcg-fr215s laptop with an ATI radeon IGP 345M (INTEGRATED) graphics card. However i am wanting to uninstall the graphic drivers and then reinstall them. Can i do this if it is integrated ?

  1. of course, why do you think they give you the drivers separately????
  2. Of course if you are using windows it will still recognize a device even if it has no drivers Just wont work correctly and by this i mean you may get low res.
  3. Yes ofcourse you can do it from the device manager but this is possible in windows XP.Unfortunately, Microsoft changed things in Vista.

  5. Nothing to add to other answers other than I install graphics drivers on computers often. Yes the system will recognise the monitor with or without Windows but at low resolution. When the computer was originally set up there must have been a graphics facility in order to load the specific drivers in the first place. If you are still not certain make a reboot disk that incorporates the graphics drivers of your choice.
