Graphics Upgrade

How do I upgrade my graphics card driver?

I have the RADEON X600 Series graphics card but I'm really new to all this techno stuff and don't know how to upgrade it. Can anyone help me please? Thanks.

  1. To download drivers for graphics card, go to http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx
  2. Head over to http://support.amd.com/us/psearch/Pages/psearch.aspx?type=2.4.1&product=2.4.1.3.19&contentType=GPU+Download+Detail&ostype=&keywords=&items=20 Select your operating system, Then Download the Drivers :)
  3. do you have any internet connection? if yes, windows will automatically update it for you.. just turn on automatic updates.
  4. Radeon X600 drivers: http://support.amd.com/us/psearch/Pages/psearch.aspx?type=2.4.1&product=2.4.1.3.19&contentType=GPU+Download+Detail&ostype=&keywords=&items=20 Or go to http://support.amd.com/us/Pages/AMDSupportHub.aspx which is the manufacturers support website and follow the simple step by step instructions.
  5. You have a couple choices usually. You can either go to the support site for the computer you have (e.g., Dell's support site is http://support.dell.com ) or you can go directly to the site that makes the GPU (in this case, ATI at http://www.amd.com/ ) Since most manufacturers don't keep up with the latest drivers for any system over a few months old, going to http://ati.amd.com/ is probably your best bet. Click on "Support & Drivers" and then "Download graphics drivers" under "Download drivers." Enter your OS type (e.g., Windows XP Professional/Home), Radeon for the product family, and finally scroll down to Radeon X600 series. ATI calls their graphics drivers and software "Catalyst" so don't let the name throw you. Download the software and save it on your hard drive. Run the downloaded software and it will update your drivers for you. You'll have to reboot after is does so. I noticed from the ATI site that version 9.3 of the Catalyst driver is the last one they will release for the X600 (as well as a number of other GPUs/cards).
  6. download the latest driver from ati.com for your operating system. remember to download the correct one for your card. also you can download and install driver sweeper. uninstall the current driver, restart your PC, boot in safe mode, run driver sweeper to clean the remains of the old driver. restart, boot normally, install the new driver, restart and your good to go HTH
