Whats the easiest/best way to upgrade from an out of date AGP graphics card to a PCI-E card? I love PC gaming, but I know little about graphic cards, I litterally just did the research to find out that my PC most likely cant accept a PCI-E card, since there are very few motherboards that have an AGP slot, and a PCI-E, im using a Ge-force fx 5200 or something like that, its been awhile since I looked at it, heh.. Anyways though was wondering if I should just get a new comp alltogether, or buy a PCI-E motherboard for my current PC, im not overly knowledgable on PC's but I have installed/swapped out a few pieces of hardware between several PC's on my own.
PC: Agp Slot and AGP Graphics Card Question? Well, I was thinking about buying an agp graphics card, My motherboard does not have pci-e =(, my agp slot is 1.5 V, and its about half the size of my pci slots, are any agp cards compatible with my slot? If not, how to know if it IS compatible with my slot? I was lookin to buy a 6200 (I just want a DECENT, cheap card thats better then my VIA/S3G UniChrome WHICH SUCKS!!! I can't even play the HL2 demo with that POS!!!!!!!) So my questions are: Do I need to know if my slotis compatible with my card? Or as long as the card uses agp, im fine. Also, how do I know if my card is 8x? My last questions is, what is a good ati radeon graphics card (AGP) that is at a reasonble price?
Best currently available AGP graphics card? As a holding measure until the new generation of AMD processors and ATI graphics cards are released, I am going to upgrade my AGP graphics card from a Sapphire x1650 Pro, which is a decent enough card to be fair, and wondered what the general concensus is on the current "best" available AGP card. I will spend up to about £200, and do prefer ATI products to NVidia, as I have always used ATI products, but that's not to say I wouldn't go for NVidia (other than NVidia only ports for DirectX, where as ATI actually uses it properly, apparently). I was looking at an x1950 Pro as an example. Keiron - absolutley, AGP is certainly on the way out, and once I can see the performance of the next-gen AMD processors, my whole system is getting upgraded, with a preference for Crossfire or SLI graphics capability. In the meantime, I'm stuck with my trusty ol' Athlon XP 3200 based system :) . There is a whole plethora of PCI-e cards that have been "ported" for AGP, the x1950 being one, and I will take a look at the NVidia card you suggest.. Appreciate your input. OK, been made aware of an outstanding AGP card, by Geforce, based on the x1950, but tweaked at factory giving blinding performance from a 48 pipline architecture. Oh, and it'll only cost £130. Sold!!
Whats the difference between 2 agp graphics cards? I have been shopping around for graphics cards. I have an AGP slot so i need an AGP card but when i look at them some have 2 parts to go in to the AGP slot and other have 3. Is there a difference or can i use either. Whats a good AGP graphics card to run team fortress 2 I got a new computer a couple of years ago not really wanting to play games on it so i didn't really care about PCI-E or AGP, I just wanted a nice computer for your everyday things like e-mail, internet etc. Two years later and I play games on it like crazy. Now a days the junky graphics card I have just doesn't meet the minimal standards of most games. Also it's AGP. My question is, what is a decent AGP graphics card that can actually run Team Fortress 2 smoothly?
