Agp Graphics Card Motherboards Knowledge Base
Is there any way to use a PCI Express graphics card in a AGP motherboard? I was wondering if there is any way to fit a PCI express graphics card into a motherboard designed for AGP cards. Is there a convertor or something? Is there performance implications - I realise it won't be as good as putting into PCI motherboard but would it acyually make much difference. Wife bought it for me without checking and don't really have cash to shell out for new board/processor.

How do I tell if an AGP graphics card supports 1.5V or requires a higher voltage? I need to get an AGP video card for my computer, it won't allow PCI-Express. The motherboard manual says the AGP slot only allows 1.5V AGP graphics cards. How do I tell if a card accepts that if I am looking in the store or on the internet. Could someone please point out a good graphics card that would support this? I want to play cool games and watch tv on the computer and be able to edit video. My computer manufacturer says the ASUS K8V-MX motherboard will only accept 1.5V AGP cards, nothing higher. The computer is a Mirus Innovations computer. The details on the card specs are not listing the voltage they will accept.

I also have an AGP 2x/4x motherboard and the video cards require a 4x/8x AGP motherboard. So my question is that will the graphics card work on my computer

What is the best AGP Graphics card still available for sale? I've got a nice dual core system but still only have an AGP slot. I'd really rather not upgrade my motherboard right now but I'd like to replace my ATI 850XL with something more savvy and faster. Does anyone have any suggestions for the best AGP card still on the market or will I be forced to move to PCIE? Also, if you could suggest the reference company with the card that would be fantastic. EG) Point of View, Club3D etc. The motherboard I'm running is an ASUS P5VDC (if I remember right - sorry I'm at work at the moment). Normally this mb has both AGP and PCIE however my particular incarnation only has AGP.

Whats the easiest/best way to upgrade from an out of date AGP graphics card to a PCI-E card? I love PC gaming, but I know little about graphic cards, I litterally just did the research to find out that my PC most likely cant accept a PCI-E card, since there are very few motherboards that have an AGP slot, and a PCI-E, im using a Ge-force fx 5200 or something like that, its been awhile since I looked at it, heh.. Anyways though was wondering if I should just get a new comp alltogether, or buy a PCI-E motherboard for my current PC, im not overly knowledgable on PC's but I have installed/swapped out a few pieces of hardware between several PC's on my own.

Will AGP 4x graphics card work in AGP 8x slot? My nVidia 6200 got fried a few months back. I am currently using an integrated card. Found an older card (AGP-RIXO M101) (no info by googling) that fits into AGP 4x slot. Will an older graphics card work with a newer motherboard? Buying a new, modern card is currently not an option. Thank you, it worked. 10 years old AGP 4x card did not damage my computer and shows picture.
Why doesn't my AGP video card work with my motherboards AGP input? Hey, i've recently upgraded my video card from my Nvidia GeForce 5500 FX (AGP) to a ATI Sapphire HD 2400 PRO (AGP). http://umart.com.au/newindex2.phtml?bid=4 - These are the specs for my card and it says that it's AGP 4X/8X compatible. My motherboards also says "AGP 8x/4x (1.5V)", these are its specs - http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00069442&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=&product=436281 This website also says that my card is 1.5v so it should be compatible with my motherboard shouldn't it? http://www.playtool.com/pages/agpcompat/agp.html (My video card has the same connectors as the left one) So when i plug in my new card and turn on my pc all the fans spin (including the one ont he video card) but nothing displays and the fans don't slow down like they normally do once it's started the bios so i figure they're not compatible :S So far I've, Reset the bios settings Changed the bios setting to both AGP and onboard graphics as its default display Checked the graphics card for dust Pushed the graphics card as far in as it goes Checked for an external power connector on the video card (it has none) Checked if i have enough power going to my video card (Definately - 400W) Used my onboard VGA port while the video card is in (Same result - no display) Updated my chipset but that does nothing because the pc won't even power up lol. Tested my video card on another motherboard (intel), it worked perfectly so the video card isn't stuffed So from this I think it's just not compatible even though the specs say it should be? If anyone knows why i would appreciate your answer :) TY guys

Are voltages relevant when buying an AGP card? Upgrading my graphics card. My motherboard specs say that I have an AGP x8 1.5V connection. I understand the x8 speed of the slot, but do I have to choose a card that will run on 1.5V or will basically all AGP x8 cards run on it ?

What's the best 4x AGP Graphics Card for under £40? Hey techie people, Okay, i'm a little out of my depth when it comes to graphics cards and the like, i'm fine installing new drives and that sorta thing, but figuring out which bit of kit is better than the other is beyond me. Info: Okay, i currently have an Asus A7A266 Motherboard, that comes with a AGP Pro/4x slot, and I think the card in there at the moment is a nVidia GeForce card with 32mb ram. I'd like to upgrade to something a bit more worthwhile... but is my Mobo too old for this, as it seems most AGP cards are now 8x... Okay, so there you go, please try and unconfuse me... any links to UK sellers for the recommended cards would be awesome. Thanks a million, Luke. What is the best graphics card for a AGP motherboard? I have a MSI K8M Neo V motherboard. It has a slot for AGP, and well, i need to play counter strike source and some Call Of Duty 4. Help, need AGP graphics card to fix my pc? The graphics card on my main PC just died and I need to replace it. I can't afford a new Motherboard as well so it needs to be an AGP card and it needs to be able to cope with reasonably demanding games (think Battlefield 2, Total War, Sims 2) and if at all possible power 2 monitors (not essential as I can get a crappy PCI card for the second one). I'm thinking under £100 price wise. The one that broke was an ATI Radeon 9800XT so preferably something at least as good as that as. I've had a look around the net for ideas but it's been a while since I looked at computer parts and i'm kinda outta touch with what's worth having and what's not. Thanks for your help :-)
Will a Radeon X1550 AGP graphics card be compatible with a Dell Dimension 4600? I recently ordered a Sapphire Radeon X1550 AGP graphics card from newegg for my Dell Dimension 4600. I just wanted to make sure that this card will be compatible, I have heard how terrible the dell motherboards are and am worried that my comp might not have enough power for this cards need........basically I am looking to use this card to play Battlefield 2 and am pretty sure this one meet the requirements
Do modern motherboards still have AGP slots for graphics? Ok, it's like this. I am buying a computer without any type of video output (no discrete video card nor integrated). I would then buy a better graphics card from another company, but while i haven't got the graphic card yet, is it possible to insert an old Nvidia Mx 100/200 using the AGP slot? In other words, do modern motherboards such as Asus P5Q have AGP slots or do they only have PCIe available for graphics? Your help would be appreciated, Thanks
Which graphics card ( AGP/PCI-E) compatible with my motherboard .. ? hi friends... my motherboard name is 661FX-M7 .... i have3.06 GHz... 1gb ram ddr... i wated to know which graphics card can i buy.... PCI or AGP Graphics card and slot? I have a custom desktop (it was made by someone I know) and so it is not of any specific brand so I cannot ask questions based on brand/model etc. Anyway, to the point, I am wanting to upgrade the graphics card, currently it has the ASUS A9250/TD/128 which is a 128mb 64bit graphics card. I have done some research, and from what I gathered, AGP cards have 1 notch (2 segments of contacts) in the contact prong area, whereas PCI (not PCI-E) have 2 notches (3 segments). Now from the research I did, my ASUS card is an AGP card, but it has 2 notches...not one. I do not want to buy the wrong graphics card, so could you please tell me what kind of slot I have and which card to buy (AGP or PCI based on the info I gave). Just to let you know, I am not looking to upgrade my motherboard just so I can get a better graphics card (PCI-E), I only want to upgrade the graphics card. I have looked at graphics cards and I found one AGP that would be suitable, but it seems PCI cards are harder to find. Anyway, any information would be much appreciated. thanks for answers, I was wondering more along the lines of is my slot AGP or PCI cuz the card that's in it now is AGP, but it looks like a PCI with the 2 notches in the contacts.
Which Graphics card able to support new game? I currently use a Nvidia 6200 graphics card. It uses AGP slot. My motherboard only has AGP slot. And I would love to play the new Need For Speed Undercover. Would any AGP card be able to support that game?
What do you all think about this AGP graphics Card? Hey guys. I have an older motherboard with an AGP slot and was wondering what you guys think about the HIS 3850 with 512 megs of DDR3 memory. It has an IceQ fan attached to it and I believe its the fastest AGP out on the market. Have any of you tried it out or have any past good or bad experience with HIS? I really don't want to upgrade my whole system and just want an AGP card that will be killer fast. I know PCI-e is much faster but I really wanna fix up this rig only. Do you know of another AGP card that is faster? Any advice would be greatly appriciated. Thanks. Specs: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161226
