How to increase memory for ATI X1200 graphics card? hey y'all, i just got a new toshiba A215-S7444 laptop with a 1.9Ghz AMD Turion 64 X2 processor, 2GB DDR2 RAM, ATI X1200 and a lotta gud stuffs. You see, I was happy getting this baby cos of one thing...the graphics memory has an onboard 128MB and can share up to 703MB from the system giving it a total of about 831 worth of memory. Now I installed Halo 2 for Vista and guess what?...it runs so horrible that I can barely type or move anything! The system says my graphic card memory size is 831MB but also says that my system memory is 1.8GB. I know that if it's really sharing it, I should be left with about 1.2GB of system memory. Does anyone know anything about this? How can I manually share my system memory? Oh yea...I already tried using the BIOS menu and the setting is not there. Is this a known issue? Am running Vista Home Premium. Does anyone know anything about this or is it just me? Thanks...

Avid Media Composer 5 with an ATI Graphics Card? Hello there. I'm planning on buying a new HP high performance desktop with an 1GB ATI Radeon HD 5570 graphics card. I also plan on getting the new Avid Media Composer 5. Unfortunately, on the Avid website they stated the following. ati graphics card question? hi i have an ati graphics card that is ment to be 256 mb dedicated and when i use xp this shows as 256mb on cpu z but when i use vista it shows 1790mb graphics memory does this mean it still has its own dedicated memory but it is also shareing my ram as well and allso should i be able to run intensive games with that 1790mb ??? seems strange to me that xp says 256mb and vista says 1790mb both checked by cpu z and so no 1 gets confused this is the same laptop not 2 different 1nz

How do I disable "Shared System Memory" for a PCI add-in video card? (ATI Radeon X1550 Pro)? I recently bought a Diamond Stealth X1550 PRO video card to upgrade from the integrated graphics in my ultra-cheap HP desktop (no PCI Express or AGP slots.) The HP BIOS has no way of disabling the onboard video entirely, just making PCI 'primary'. In Windows (Vista Home Premium,) I can disable the onboard (Intel 910GL) graphics in the Device Manager. However, when I get the graphics card properties for the Radeon, it says "256 MB Dedicated Video Memory" and "255 MB Shared System Memory" for a total 511 MB "Total Available Graphics Memory". As this card has 256 MB onboard, I don't want to over-saturate the PCI bus having the video card use up to 255 MB of main system memory. (My wireless network card is also on the PCI bus.) Is there any way in Vista to disable the "Shared System Memory"? I am running the latest (April 18, 2007, v7.4) version of the ATI Radeon X1000 series drivers and Catalyst Control Center, and cannot find such a setting anywhere. Well, I can't find it under Advanced Properties, and even though I *SHOULDN'T* ever fill up the 256 MB, it still seems to be running significantly slower than it should. (For example, even dragging windows around produces noticeable 'tearing' that is much worse than the onboard video was. But 3D gaming is much better.)

My Graphics card, ATI Radeon x1550, has 520MB of memory, but only 64MB VRAM. I think this is because I only 1GB RAM and my PC can't afford to dedicate 512MB to my graphics card. So I, was thinking, if I bought more RAM, would it increase the VRAM? Any help would be appreciated, thanks. This may seem a silly question but what difference does the memory make that comes with a graphics card? I used to have a Nvidia Geforce with 256 mb memory graphics card but changed to a ATI Radeon 9250 with 128 mb because i dont like having fans on my graphics cards.The ATI was a lot cheaper and had a heat sink too but what does the memory actually do and how does it improve things? What is a good ATI graphics card? My PC build has hit a bump in the road. For a couple of weeks now I've been trying to find a good graphics card that won't break the bank but will be very reliable, fast, and powerful for years to come. Since I began my build I've went from EVGA Nvidia, to XFX Nvidia, to ASUS Nvidia, and back to XFX Nvidia. But Nvidia has started to grow off me and I'm looking in to ATI cards now. I was looking at the HD5000 series and liked what I saw. Especially the 5770. The only bummer about that card is that the memory interface is 128-bit. Is the ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4650 (M96) a good graphics card for 3D intense games? I want to get a laptop with an integrated ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4650 (M96) graphics card, it has 1GB dedicated memory. After some research it seems that integrated graphics cards are not good for 3D intense games because most don't have dedicated memory. So, with the 1GB dedicated memory would that make this card good for 3D intense games?

Will this damage my ATI Graphics card? Im running a Sapphire Radeon HD 3870 in my computer that came with 776 mhz core clock speed and 2250 mhz memory clock speed. I used the ATI auto tune feature to over clock it. It scanned it and tested it for like 10 minutes and then set the clocks to 871 mhz core clock speed and the memory clock to 2342 mhz. After playing Need for Speed Undercover on full graphics and maximum everything the heat only reached 49 degrees celsius. The card idles aroun 36 degrees celsius. I have a very nice case for cooling with several fans and everything else in my pc is set for gaming. My main question is can I trust what the ATI Catalyst has set my card to? Can I use my card on the settings they auto tuned it too? If you read this please give your input. Thanks
